Kyoto is an old capital of Japan. Many old shrines and temples including world heritage sites, and traditional arts and crafts exist there attracting a great number of tourists domestic and foreign. In this tour we will visit Shimogamo-jinja Shrine, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Ryoan-ji Temple and Kyoto Handcraft Center. Shimogamo-jinja Shrine is a guardian deity for Japan and its Capital since Heian Era. Japanese people revered the Shrine as a guardian diety for the Imperial Household. The two main buildings of the Shrine are designated as national treasures. Kinkaku-ji Temple known as the Gold Pavillion, which is a three-story building. The second and the third floors are covered with gold leaf. The garden is an excellent strolling-style garden. Ryoan-ji Temple has a famous rock garden called Sekitei, a Japanese garden composed entirely rocks and sand. It is a sit-and-see style garden, where you sit and meditate. Ninna-ji Temple was founded by Emperor Uda in 888, and formally called Old Imperial Palace. The temple had close relationship with Imperial Household. The main Hall of the temple is designated as a national treasure. |
